Nick Bohemia, chairman/acting secretary of the Bagot Goat Society (BGS), will be our guest speaker on 20 January 2018, in a change to his scheduled talk on 21 October 2017.
From the BGS website:
The Bagot is believed to be Britain’s oldest breed of goat with a documented ancestry. The first recorded account of the breed appears in historical documents from 1389, when Sir John Bagot was known to be the keeper of the original herd at Blithfield, his Staffordshire estate in the English Midlands.
The Bagot Goat Society manages the official herd book of the Bagot breed of goat in the UK and is dedicated to its conservation and promotion. The Society offers support and advice for existing herd owners, breeders and new starters alike, with the aim of increasing the UK population of this endangered breed.
As always, Herefordshire Goat Club will meet at 12pm at The Bell Inn, Tillington. Anyone with an interest in goats is welcome!
